Education & Training to support capacity building for Pediatric Cancer prevention, control and research


The project seeks to strengthen institutional capacity in developing and enhancing their knowledge, skills, abilities, processes and resources in pediatric haemato-oncology, focusing on pediatric hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT).

The professionals who carried out the project belong to the MBBM Foundation/IRCCS San Gerardo dei Tintori and are supported by the Children Global Medicine Group of the Comitato Maria Letizia Verga.

  • Staff mobility for Teaching & Training to and from UNIMIB, Fondazione MBBM, Universidad del Pacifico, Hospital General Pediatrico Ninos de Acosta Nu – through physical mobility.
  • Teaching focused on Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HSCT).

  • Training focused on clinical activities.
  • Capacity building for Quality Management and improvement of traceability process (clinical documentation, standard operating procedures).


Training of nurses and doctors in the field of HSCT with onsite and online supervision of the clinical activity. Actually the Unit is completely autonomous and is the only public institution in Paraguay able to offer HSCT to pediatric patients.
